Abstract :The study addresses the issue of constitutional power transition in Iraq within the framework of democracy and its institutional mechanisms. It highlights that peaceful power transition is a vital element for achieving political and social stability. However, this process faces significant challenges in Iraq, primarily the dominance of consociational democracy and the lack of genuine democratic practices. The study concludes that peaceful power transition encounters obstacles in establishing democracy as a practical reality due to societal unawareness and the constraints of the consociational system. It recommends raising public awareness, adopting constitutional reforms to ensure political pluralism and reduce the dominance of consociational democracy, and activating the role of oversight institutions to ensure election integrity and achieve genuine power transition.
