Abstract

All human societies became aware of the danger of attacks by man committed to the environment, and the devastating effects it is, the use of lethal weapons in time of armed conflict, which have sprung up recently, especially in the Arab region, and that the use of such weapons caused  serious damage to the environment, and directly influenced to good  life , which constitutes a major objective of all  international global organizations, as those organizations rely on conventions and protocols, whether directly and indirectly to protect the environment from human messes,

especially in times of armed conflict and because of the damage to the natural environment in times of armed conflicts cannot be avoided, most of the conventions and protocols have focused on banning the use of weapons that cause damage to the environment in times of armed conflicts.

Despite the  environment has a protection under the conventions and protocols, but  this protection is often violated in time of armed conflicts, due to non-compliance with those international conventions and protocols which requires that we renew our commitment to prevent the exploitation of the environment in times of armed conflicts, and encourage the formation of public opinion to support this trend, and lead to the adoption of international legal group issued periodically  to prevent attacks on the  components of the environment and to punish the offender.

Countries of the world  realized that the Environmental Protection can be done  by the existence of sound management of the elements of the environment, and by defining the concept of international responsibility for the tort of the  environment in times of armed conflict by declaring the relationship between tort and illegal international act  and to highlight the international responsibility to protect the environment.

The international humanitarian law interested to ban weapons that affect the environment in times of armed conflicts, as the international community proceeded to the legislation of a set of special rules of war and the methods and the behavior of the armed forces , to distinguish what is permitted and what is internationally forbidden, all amid international relations where force dictated  a lot of these rules and disrupted others.

To shed  light on this subject, I divide it in two sections as follows:

In the first , I dealt with the environmental impacts of armed conflicts and the measures to be followed when they occur , while the second ,will be about the  regulatory actions to reduce the environmental effects of armed conflicts .
