Abstract

In view of what the current international situation witnesses of escalation in armed conflicts, the need arises to reconsider the legal framework for using force in international relations to determine its effectiveness, verify the sufficiency of legal rules which it includes and focus light on its deficiencies, in order to enhance efforts towards forming a regulating theory for this subject.

Measuring the effectiveness of legal framework for using force requires from one hand analyzing the principle of forbidding the use of force in international relations and its exemptions and from the other hand examining the sufficiency of the legal rules regulating the use of force and the international conduct and practice in dealing with it. This is what this study aims to demonstrate in order to achieve the required purpose based upon the assumption that the international legal framework in its current state is insufficient in regulating the use of force in international relations.
